Styling a period property in Brighton

Although most of our projects are in London, there’s nothing we love more than a visit to the sea side to style a period property. We were asked by the owners of this house, who are based in Australia, to dress prior to launching on the sales & lettings market. The bonus being that the house has a sea view in Brighton with a huge roof terrace (yes, lunch break was spent looking at the sea views), and it was a beautiful house to interior style.

The house already had some items of furniture, so using some of the owners own items, and mixing in with our items, to create a coherent look, along the shabby chic style that was already there with the distressed cupbaords, painted mirrors and more. Luckily we have such a range of items available, and we are always happy to work with owners items, this was not a problem.

Styling a period property is great fun to bring in some of the classical features, whilst adding a contemporary feel with artwork and textiles. As our storage isn’t in London, we are happy to travel all over the UK and have worked on Scottish country houses to Georgian Somerset gems. In London we tend to keep to the more contemporary styling but this isn’t necessarilty suited to all houses, so we can mix it up with classical items, shabby chic items, antiques too. Working out of London is also great fun as its a chance to explore the wonderful houses in the UK and we are lucky to see some pretty special places.

The house was let through Winkworth and the photography is by Team Creative.
