Dress for Sale, Finlay Street, Fulham, with Knight Frank

Dress for Sale

This is a superb house on Finlay Street, Fulham, London, which has been completely renovated and required dressing before coming to market with Knight Frank.

I have worked with the client on various other projects of theirs. Its always exciting to see their latest project as they are really spectacular houses. Somehow, they create so much liveable square footage out of a very unassuming front -you would never know that this house is over 3,300 sq ft from the front!

The Brief

Finlay Street is a sought after street in the ‘alphabet streets’ or Bishops Park Estate which all have large period houses. To keep in the character of this property, we decided to style using a classic contemporary feel. The house has a lighter shade of oak than previous houses our client has renovated, so we decided to keep it light, using natural textures e.g. woods and linens, as well as warm gilt, copper and brass accessories. Bold artwork adds more colour and impact too.

The double reception room on the ground floor has a lovely wood burner stove, so it was decided to make this area into a cosy seating area, with a desk / study area in the other section of the room.

How wonderful would it be to work in this room in the colder months! I love to put desks so that they are facing into the room rather than against a wall, so it was brought forward with a pair of chairs that you can imagine turning around if you were to have a meeting.

The large kitchen is open plan with access to the garden, and here we wanted to keep it light and spacious showing a dining table for 8 as well as a sofa & tv unit area where you can imagine sitting down to your morning coffee and news before heading out.

With the football stadium close by, this is a house that is certainly suitable for a footballer or celebrity. So much space, six bedrooms, and a large garden. All carefully hidden behind an unassuming front door.

What do other professionals say about the benefits of Dress for Sale?

Here is an extract from an article in Country Life

‘A house must looked lived-in,’ says Nigel Mitchell of Knight Frank. ‘People want to be able to imagine themselves living there.’

Our interior styling style is to make a house feel like a home. To create a narrative, yet keeping it stylish and simple. We like to use accessories that may be personal, e.g. a few photo frames, but yet keeping it to a minimum so as not to look cluttered.
