Property Dressing for interior designer Nicola Scannell

Interior designer Nicola Scannell Design knows the benefits of home staging.

Home staging, also known as property dressing, has many benefits, as interior designer Nicola Scannell who built and designed this new build home in Cookham, Berks knows. The bungalow that was there is now replaced by a large modern home with all the luxuries of contemporary countryside living. This rooms in this spacious house transformed once furniture was in situ. The rooms had atmosphere and energy and lay-out was clearly visible as to how to use each area of the house.

I love working with interior designers and collaborating with ideas to see their project come to its final stage of how they envisage the house. I have worked with Nicola Scannell Design a few times and was very excited to see Nicola’s latest project, a new build near Maidenhead. This house did not disappoint. It is beautiful.

As you enter the house, the eye is taken to the garden, creating a feeling of the outside coming to the inside and that of space and the natural environment. The house is located near the river Thames in Cookham, so the brief was to keep the furniture in keeping with the natural world. I avoided the use of too much chromes and instead wanted to use our more natural elements, e.g. woods and ceramics, and add colour with the cushions and textiles.

This house is a new build with attention to detail. All the benefits of the latest design – from large bio folding doors over 6m long in the kitchen overlooking a wonderful and ‘wild’ garden (which is how I love them, perfect for den building and getting little hands dirty!) to the latest in built tech systems so not one lead or cable is to be seen. The colours on the walls are from Little Green Company and are beautiful tones. The bedrooms all spacious and most have ensuites. The master has a walk in wardrobe too.

So the house is not only beautiful and a joy to work with, as is Nicola, but its only 40 minutes from London and Cross Rail will be coming soon, so its going to be a short train ride into town. All the benefits of countryside living, with the links to London making it an easy commute.
