Property styling can make empty rooms feel lived in and loved.
It can create an atmosphere which houses need to transform them into family homes, places you want to spend time and enjoy being in. Once we start the styling process, the rooms become filled with energy and are transformed. Not only is it helpful for photography and marketing to have furniture, artwork, accessories in the rooms to give viewers looking online an idea of scale, it also creates atmosphere for when people are looking around the property.
For this house, we wanted to use natural fabrics e.g. linens and cottons, as well as natural materials eg woods, as well as natural accessories e.g. corals and flowers. The dining table is by One World Trading and makes a fantastic family meal or entertaining as it can seat up to 8 people. Their products have a rustic and informal feel which I think is important in family houses where you want to imagine children having the freedom to roam and play. The artwork is by one of my favourite contemproary artists, Sabrina Rowan Hamilton, and her original oil paintings always add some colour and impact in a room. Lots of the cushion fabrics are from Fermoie, which have lovely linens with bright colours. I like to add colour through accessories, artwork & textiles. The hallway has a console from Oka with flowers, diffusers and books to make a welcoming first impression. Apparently, when buying a house, you decide within the first 5 minutes if you like it, and so first impressions really count!
