Staging a country home in Surrey

Staging a country home in Surrey

I have wanted to work with these developers for a while as their projects are incredible! When I was asked to visit their latest project in Surrey, I was very excited. This is a Georgian house, with an even older part at the back, that they had fully renovated. The small rooms has been opened up to create a modern layout. The old part of the house at the back, which had been 5 rooms, was opened into one large living room with floor to ceiling glass! So light and spacious! The staircase retained its original bannister which in itself is a thing of beauty. The hallway which has been narrow before had been widened into a large area.

Staging a country home in Surrey – the brief

With this proejct, we created a classic contemporary feel to the spaces. We wanted to acknowledge the heritage of the buildings but also to create a modern sense of living. The curved sofas from Andrew Martin are one of our favourite pieces. Along with original artwork, keeping a rustic natural feel in the conservatory and using faux florals and Rituals diffusers to add those final layers. I also love the throw we have on the principle bed from Oka combining the colour combo of green and pinks. Such a good colour combo for bedrooms as so warm and calming.

Staging a historic home calls for a different approach. When Cullum Design were asked to dress a historic home in Surrey, newly renovated by renowned developers Oak and Olive Homes, we knew we had to use some of our ‘original’ collection.

Cullum Design has been established for 30 years and has a collection of beautiful antiques as well as the contemporary collection. Mixing contemporary and antiques isn’t easy, but when done well the effects are fantastic.

Its no surprise this home in Surrey sold so quickly.
